JOHN A. MARCOTTE, DVM

Dr. Marcotte is a 1994 graduate of the University of Missouri, College of Veterinary Medicine. He was also inducted into the Phi Zeta Veterinary Honor Society.

In 1998, Dr. Marcotte founded Marcotte Veterinary Clinic with the primary goal of excellence in client service and dedicated to the care of the performance horse. This service driven attitude and dedication to the veterinarian profession has continually enhanced the abilities and services provided by the clinic. Dr. Marcotte’s belief in current and continuous education on technology has propelled the clinic to become well-known in the equine industry, with a client base covering most of the central United States in sports medicine and lameness.

Dr. Marcotte is a member of the AAEP, OVMA, AVMA, and the Society of Theriogenology. He currently resides in Vinita, Oklahoma with his wife Karen, and his three children Austin, Aubrey, and Shyanne. He enjoys flying helicopters and shooting.

CALLI NEWMAN – VETERINARY ASSISTANT

Calli has been working at Marcotte Vet Clinic since she was 16 years old. Her passion for horses is seen everyday in her work. She is currently attending Rogers State University working toward her Bachelors in Business Management. She enjoys raising, training, and riding her own horses as well as helping others.

AMANDA ZITTENFIELD – VETERINARY ASSISTANT

Amanda has worked for Marcotte Veterinary Clinic since 2007, learning the many facets of the veterinary world. Amanda is from Catoosa, Oklahoma and grew up in Kansas. She is our main caretaker, staying up when mares are due to foal, and caring for our sick horses throughout the night. Amanda has a love of animals and always keeps their best interest in mind. She enjoys riding horses and mules in her free time.

JULIO "NINO" VICENTE SOLIS – FACILITIES MANAGEMENT

Nino has been a valued member of Marcotte Veterinary Clinic since 2012, keeping our stables and grounds in top shape. Nino was born in Guatemala, emigrating to the United States. He began his career caring for race horses and soon found a passion for equine care.

BETTE MITCHELL – RECEPTIONIST

Bette grew up in Grants Pass, Oregon where she graduated from high school and enlisted in the United States Army. She served in Heidelberg, Germany as the military secretary for the Chief of Staff of USAREUR, Major General Grove. Upon completion of service, Bette moved to El Paso, TX where she worked for Southern Pacific Railroad in a variety of positions over a 10 year period. Setteling in Oklahoma, she was the office manager of a large horse facility for 17 years, where Dr. Marcotte was the primary veterinarian. Bette showed Arabian horses at the National level having won the Canadian National Championship in Arabian Western Pleasure Amateur Owner to Ride and US National Reserve Championship in Arabian Cutting Horse Non-Pro in 1990. Bette has worked with Marcotte Veterinary Clinic since 2011. Besides her love of horses, she enjoys camping and hiking in Colorado.

KAREN MARCOTTE – OFFICE MANAGER

Karen grew up in Missouri, graduating from Maple Woods College as a Veterinary Technician in 1987. She has over 20 years experience in the field. She began working at Twin Pines Veterinary Clinic before moving to Oklahoma and working with Equine Medical Associates, Oklahoma City Equine, and Animal Health International. Karen is a member of AQHA, the Paint Horse Association, and Women’s Professional Rodeo Association. She enjoys raising foals, skiing, and barrel racing with her daughter Shyanne.
